AMP 16th Annual Convention for Palestine in the US was a resounding success, with over 4,500 attendees, including more than 1,500 in kids, youth, and college programs. Despite cancelling the original venue a month before the event, the Palestinian community demonstrated resilience by gathering under sombre circumstances. The main program focused on the stories of families from Gaza who have endured loss but have chosen life and resilience to move forward. Speakers from across the nation and beyond discussed the importance of political and civic engagement, holding those in power in media and government accountable for being complicit in a genocide against their people.
The College Activism Track was a giant success, with students participating in workshops to hone their skills and share valuable lessons and resources. College students have been at the forefront of advocacy and protest for Gaza, and have been the target of a campaign to blacklist and silence them. AMP sincerely thanks all attendees, donors, vendors, sponsors, and allies for making this year’s convention memorable.
At AMP, they will continue to raise awareness about the ongoing situation in Gaza through training, media engagement, and advocacy on local and national levels. They will also pressure elected officials in the government for a permanent, sustainable ceasefire, an end to aid for Israel and an end to Israel’s occupation and apartheid regime.
