Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) has launched a two‑day free eye camp and cataract surgery initiative in Sukkur, Pakistan, expected to serve approximately 200 people. The camp was inaugurated by Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi, Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba Memon, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Sukkur, and Dr. Arshad Baloch, Program Manager at HHRD Pakistan. Participants will be screened for common eye conditions, and those diagnosed with cataracts will receive free surgery.

HHRD Eye Camp Is Part of a Nationwide Vision Initiative

The Sukkur camp is one of many that HHRD runs across Pakistan. The program also operates in 22 other locations worldwide. It provides free screenings, cataract surgeries, and post‑operative care to people who otherwise lack access to specialized treatment. HHRD reported that 15,728 cataract surgeries were performed worldwide in 2025, including 7,269 in Pakistan. Each procedure involves implanting an intraocular lens to restore sight. Camps like this help address Pakistan’s backlog of untreated cataract cases.

HHRD Brings Free Eye Care to Remote Communities

By bringing medical teams directly to remote areas, HHRD spares patients the cost and burden of travel. Commissioner Qureshi praised HHRD’s work, saying such initiatives restore not only eyesight but also livelihoods and independence. For many patients, regaining sight means returning to work, supporting their families, and partake fully in community life.

HHRD’s guiding principle is “Restoring Vision, Restoring Lives.”
