Launch Good: Always Standing Up For Their Ummah
LaunchGood has brought people from all over the world together, and first responders work together during disasters. Muslims who are creative come up with new ways to make the lives of Muslims around the world better. LaunchGood also helps build mosques, Islamic institutions, and Dawah efforts around the world.
Along with the help of a few Muslim volunteers, LaunchGood.com went live in September 2013. LaunchGood kept going even though it had trouble getting venture capital funding twice. The company was started in May 2015 with the LaunchGood Fellowship. The fellowship helped bring together 38 fellows from seven different countries to work on the project. When it started in June 2015, the Ramadan Challenge asked people to make products that met the needs of Muslims.
LaunchGood Through The Years
In July 2015, LaunchGood initiated its first viral campaign, “Rebuild with Love,” to demonstrate support for Black churches in the US South that were facing incidents of arson. LaunchGood won a $100,000 EFICA award in November 2016, which helped them pay off their debts and get new laptops.
In January 2018, LaunchGood made its services available in over 130 countries. These countries include London, Kuala Lumpur, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Singapore, and a few places where people live while travelling. LaunchGood put together a record-setting campaign in March 2019 that brought together tens of thousands of people from all over the world to raise more than $2 million in 48 hours.
In May 2020, people all over the world worked together to #OutsmartCorona, which caused a greater sense of empathy and unity among donors. LaunchGood celebrated having 1 million donors in June 2021. In August 2022, GMW hosted its inaugural team meeting, and the organization has planned 25 events worldwide for 2024.
In February 2023, the global community united to assist the individuals affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, raising over $6 million for families forced to evacuate their homes and for survivors.
Together, these crowdfunding sites and Muslim leaders are making a big difference in the lives of people all over the world.
