HHRD Education Support: Supporting Students for Academic Success
Education remains a central pillar of the Orphan Support Program.
Recent school data collected by the program indicates 96 HHRD-sponsored orphans appeared in the Secondary School Certificate examinations in the South Punjab Region of Pakistan. These functionally mandatory exams are the standard qualification necessary to move into higher education, technical education, diploma pathways, and most careers. Students typically take these exams at the end of grade 9 or 10.
Of the 96 HHRD-sponsored orphans to sit for the test, twenty-four (24%) earned A grades, while twenty-five (26%) earned B grades. All children in the cohort passed the exam. Through targeted interventions such as school fee assistance, uniforms, book supplies, and additional tuition support, the program enables consistent school attendance and improved academic performance.
Across 61 clusters in Pakistan, 9,865 beneficiaries received coaching classes, winter study camps, and career counseling sessions to strengthen continuity of learning. The program also assessed 233 schools for quality improvements and helped 151 families shift their children to better-performing institutions.
Offering Support Beyond the Classroom
HHRD’s Orphan Support Program complements education with essential services that sustain children’s well-being. Monthly food packs, health coverage, and hygiene kits ensure that beneficiaries can focus on learning without the burden of unmet basic needs. Between January and June, 53 medical cases were treated, benefiting both orphaned children and their mothers. Nutrition boxes and family health coverage continue to reinforce the program’s commitment to physical and mental health.
Child Development and Capacity Building
The program’s child development component fosters confidence, leadership, and moral character through structured activities. Age-relevant initiatives such as Rising Stars, Sister Stars, and Shining Stars provide mentorship, Quran classes, and leadership training.
In the first half of the year, 1,476 participants engaged in democratic elections for Shining Star Societies, promoting youth leadership and civic responsibility. National-level workshops in Islamabad and Sukkur trained 87 staff members to enhance program delivery and child development strategies.

The consistent academic progress observed among OSP beneficiaries underscores the strength of HHRD’s integrated support model. By combining educational assistance with healthcare, nutrition, and psychosocial care, HHRD ensures that children are equipped not only to succeed academically but also to grow into resilient, responsible citizens.
