HHRD Give Water Give Life Annual Banquet Tour

Access to clean water and proper sanitation is more than just a necessity; it is a fundamental human right. Yet, billions around the world still suffer from a lack of safe water and dignified sanitation. Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) is working tirelessly to change that reality through its impactful Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program.

The Critical Need for Clean Water and Sanitation

While many people take water for granted, the stark reality is that over 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water, and more than 3.5 billion have little or no access to safe sanitation facilities at home. This lack leads to billions of preventable illnesses and deaths every year. The urgency of this crisis cannot be overstated. Clean water and sanitation are not just essential for health, dignity, and life itself, but they are also a shared responsibility.

HHRD’s Life-Saving Impact

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our donors, HHRD’s WASH program provided clean water and dignified sanitation access to 134,862 people. This is not just a number, but a testament to the life-saving impact of our work. Over the years, the program has reached over 2 million beneficiaries in 14 countries, transforming lives and communities through the construction of wells, pumps, rainwater harvesting units, and washrooms.

Where Support Makes a Difference

HHRD targets the most vulnerable populations by tailoring projects to regional needs:

  • Jordan: Water trucks and restroom units assist Syrian refugees without access to basic plumbing.
  • Afghanistan: Afrediv water pumps support impoverished rural communities.
  • Africa: Wells and pumps tap into underground water resources, allowing entire communities to access clean water without walking miles.
  • Bangladesh: Large-scale water projects supply safe drinking water to Rohingya refugee camps, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.

When you donate to HHRD’s WASH initiatives, you’re not just providing clean water and sanitation. Your contribution qualifies as sadaqah jariyah, an ongoing charity that continues to give, even after you’re gone. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, creating enduring blessings for you and your loved ones.

Protecting Health and Dignity Worldwide

HHRD’s WASH program protects the health and freedom of hundreds of thousands globally through sustainable water solutions such as:

  • Wells
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Purification plants

The organization also safeguards vulnerable children by distributing sanitation supplies and installing washrooms in schools, communities, and disaster-hit areas. Special focus is given to women and girls, who are most vulnerable when water is scarce, ensuring they receive empathy and dignity.

Program Reach at a Glance

  • 21 countries
  • 2,101 water projects
  • 2,183 sanitation projects
  • 1,457,090 beneficiaries

Despite global efforts, progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to water and sanitation has been slow in the past 15 years. HHRD continues to innovate with solutions such as water trucking in the desert of Thar, Sindh, Pakistan, and hygiene kit distribution in Africa.
