Ramadan, Sabr, and Moral Clarity in a Time of Conflict

As the blessed month of Ramadan unfolds, Muslims around the world are observing a time of fasting, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Yet this year, Ramadan has been overshadowed by a devastating war on Iran by the United States and Israel, launched on February 28, 2026. Reports indicate that more than one thousand targets have been struck, including civilian infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. In response, Iran has targeted Israeli and U.S. bases and assets across the Middle East, escalating regional tensions and deepening global anxiety.

In moments like this, IslamiCity reminds us to heed the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about the trials of our times:
“There will come to the people years of treachery, when the liar will be regarded as honest, and the honest man will be regarded as a liar; the traitor will be regarded as faithful, and the faithful man will be regarded as a traitor; and the Ruwaibidah will decide matters.” When asked who the Ruwaibidah are, he replied, “Vile and base men who control the affairs of the people.”

Amid competing geopolitical narratives and expert analyses, Ramadan calls us to something deeper than political reaction. It calls us to strengthen our iman, anchor our hearts in Allah, and remember His guidance: “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs” (Qur’an 3:173), “Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient” (Qur’an 2:153), and “Whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him” (Qur’an 65:3).

During times of conflict and loss, Islam’s moral compass remains clear: human life, dignity, and justice must remain central. Ramadan teaches restraint, compassion, and moral clarity. As families break their fasts, they pray for peace, justice, and mercy for the innocent, the displaced, and for wisdom among leaders. True victory lies not in domination, but in justice, mercy, and the courage to advocate peace.
