Senate Republicans Launch ‘Jihad Jeopardy’ Game Against Abdul El-Sayed Hours Before Final Michigan Debate
The NRSC's online game targets Michigan's Democratic Senate nominee, who is campaigning to become the first Muslim U.S. senator. El-Sayed has rejected the claims behind it.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released an online game called “Jihad Jeopardy” on Wednesday, Oct. 21, targeting Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, hours before his second and final debate with Republican Mike Rogers [1].
The Jeopardy-style board has seven categories, including “All in the Family” and “Follow the Money,” with clues about El-Sayed’s past statements, campaign donations and relatives. The NRSC says the game exposes what it describes as El-Sayed’s and his family’s ties to designated terrorist organizations, including the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda [1].
“Abdul has serious questions to answer and it should alarm every single Michigander that he continually refuses to do so,” NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell said in the release [1].
El-Sayed has rejected the claims. He has said he “absolutely” disavows the Muslim Brotherhood, and he called old social media posts by his half-sister about their mother “hearsay,” adding that the insinuations are “just not serious” [2]. “I’m not running to be a Muslim senator, I’m running for the US Senate and happen to be Muslim,” he said [2].
Bridge Michigan reported that it “found no direct evidence” for Rogers’ claim that El-Sayed had “pledged his support to the Muslim Brotherhood” [2].
El-Sayed, who was born in 1984 and raised in Michigan, is campaigning to become the first Muslim U.S. senator [2][3]. The winner of the Nov. 3 election will replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters [4].
The debate airs tonight, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) in Detroit and on WXMI Fox 17 in Grand Rapids, moderated by Chuck Stokes [4].
