Zakat Foundation of America Shares Three Quran Verses About Ramadan

Ramadan 2024, is a month of spiritual guidance and ease for Muslims worldwide. The Quran describes it as a month of clarity, spiritual guidance, and ease, it also holds a celebratory sentiment. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset, focusing on the Quran and worship efforts. Fasting is not a form of penance or austerity but a means for Muslims to learn humility and get closer to their faith. This Abrahamic tradition has been passed down through generations of prophets and their followers.
While fasting is physically challenging, it allows Muslims to shift their focus away from food and drink and towards worship actions while striving to improve their faith. The Night of Laylatul Qadr, or The Night of Power, is the exact night the Quran started to be revealed and is sought through recognizing certain astrological and spiritual qualities during the last 10 nights of Ramadan. The Night of Power is said to carry immense blessings and encourages Muslims to strive even more with their worship to attain the benefits. Muslims often prepare for the Night of Power by planning extra acts of worship, and attending late-night prayer services with family, friends, and community members, and attending late-night prayer services too.

So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. God intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete this period and to glorify God for that [to] which He has guided you, perhaps you will be grateful (Surat Al-Anbiya, 21:85).“
“Oh, you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, [so] that you may learn piety and righteousness (Surat Baqarah, 2:183).“
